World Test Championship Final Preview

The final of the first ICC World Test Championship (2019-21) is finally upon us. After the cancellation of the tournament in 2013 and 2017, it began in 1 August 2019 with the Ashes series. New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the finals and with the series between South Africa and Australia being cancelled , India’s win over England was Enough to take them to the finals. The top 2 ranked test teams will battle it out to be the first ICC World Test Championship winner.

New Zealand

New Zealand began their journey to the finals with 1-1 series draw against Sri-Lanka. They then travelled to Australia where they lost the series 3-0. After the diassapointing Australia tour, they have dominated their home season with series win over India, West-Indies and Pakistan to ensure their place in the final.


India began their journey in an amazing fashion winning their first 3 series against West-Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh. They then travelled to New Zealand and lost convincingly. After that they have not looked back defeating Australia 2-1 and England 3-1 to book their place in final.

The South Africa born New Zealand opener had a great start to his test career scoring 200 against England in Lord’s. The start will be key for both the teams and if he can deliver in similar way, he will surely make an impact in the result of the match.
