France to win?: Euro 2020 Predictions
As the Euro 2020 (2021) is getting ever closer, everybody has started wondering about the potential winners, best player and so on. In the battle of Europe elite Countries and players who will come out on top. Let’s try to predict every possible outcome (in my opinion) of the Euros 2020.
Turkish football is in the rise with a lot of young players. They have got a lot of good, hungry and talented players who are wanting to prove themselves at a big stage. With Senol Gunes in the dougout, Turkey are aiming to get out of group stage which they failed in 2016.
As, Netherlands being one of the favourites to win the tournament I think they are gonna struggle to live up to the hype. With their captain and their best defender Virgil van Dijk not opting to play and with relitively unsuccessful coach Frank de Boer, they are gonna have a dissapointing tournament.
The 21 year old English youngster has had a very good season being nominated for both PFA Young Player of the year and Player of the year. Being only 21 years old he has been one of the main man for Manchester City this season. With England lacking in no.10 position for a long time, it’s a good oppertunity for him to make it his own. He is gonna play almost every game and if England reaches later stage, he is gonna play a vital role.
Scotland to beat Croatia
Scotland are back in the major tournament finals for the first time since 1998 World Cup in France. They have been drawn in Group D alongside Croatia, England and Czech Republic. They have a good, young and hungry squad eager to prove themselves in the big stage. Croatia have been on the downfall since the World Cup final few years back. And with the players getting older they will find it difficult against Scotland.
Point to Prove
2018-19 Chelsea player has been in the downfall eversince his dream move to Real Madrid. The Belgian has struggled from injuries and hasn’t been able to adapt to LaLiga. He has only got 5 goal contribution in Laliga in his 2 seasons with only 30 appearence. The Belgian captain hasn’t appeared for Belgium since the match against Cyprus in Nov 19, 2019. Playing for one of the favourites to win the tournament he has a massive responsibility on his shoulder. If he can stay fit and regain his best form he can help his country lift their first major international trophy.
There are a lot of great strikers ( Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski) But for me it’s has to be Romelu Lukaku. The 28 year old Inter Milan striker is already Belgium’s highest goal scorer with 59 goals. With belgium tipped to reach the latter stages of the tournament, he will have to deliver the goals they need. With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Youri Tielemans, Axel Witsel behind him he is gonna have a lot of oppertunities to score goals.
Antoine Griezmann has not been in best of form since his move to Barcelona in 2019, but he is still one of the most important player in the French squad. The 30 year old has been ever reliable for French. With the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Olivier Giroud there to score goals he can just play a little bit deeper and show his magic. The 2016 Euro top scorer and best player will give his best performance to help France win their 3rd European Championship.
Its gotta be France, you just can’t look past them. The 2016 Euros finalists will want to go one step further and lift the trophy. The reigning world champions have a lot of strength in their squad and now with Karim Benzema back they will lock to conquer the Europe once again.
